11 mth pictures

This is Addie worshipping at the conference in Dallas
this past weekend.
Addie's favorite form of transportation!

11 month check up

We are so close to 20 lbs. I can't wait to hit this mile marker b/c that means i can finally turn that car seat around (since she is turning 1 on Nov. 1- I know she has to be both).  This little social butterfly hates not seeing what is happening.  Having her face the back is like pure torture for this doodle bug. So, her official weight is 18.4 lbs and she is 29 inches long.  She is a little over the 50th percentile for height and I have a yeah-- she is closer to the 25th percentile in her weight. yippee!
Fun facts - Adriana loves music- I think I've mentioned that before.  Anyway, in the mornings we have a routine: she sits for breakfast and we turn on a group called Jesus Culture (main singer: Kim Walker.. wow, awesome!!)  Last week, Adriana and I were sitting for b/f and I forgot to turn on the music..she turned herself around in her seat and pointed at the stereo.  I was a little slow, and just said, "yes, stereo?" She kept pointing and saying baby talk.  I realized she wanted to music on, finally, so I turned it on.  She happily turned back around and started doing her seat dance.  Then, this is the part that amazes me.. at one point, the lead singer says, "everybody raise your hands ..."  I know this cd by heart.. I didn't budge.. just kept eating my cereal.  Two minutes later, Adriana raises her hands and starts singing.  She sings like this, "awwww, oooooo".  It is the cutest thing I've ever heard. It was just surprising to see her do exactly what the music said. I don't really think she understood the singer, but I think she felt the Spirit.
Mimi is flying into town tomorrow, Biggie comes in on thurs., Erica and Matt round out the week by flying in on friday.  Why are the Hansen's coming into town?? FOR ADRIANA'S FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY.
This Saturday, we are celebrating Addie's first year of life. I can't wait. We will update with pictures of the party next week!

Hilarious Firsts!

So, we've been having bouts of nice weather here in Pipe Creek and the other evening around 5pm it was really cool out.  So, we decided to go enjoy the outside.  Rick had to work on the car anyway, and Adriana and I kept him company.  We walked down the breezeway and sat on the curb with our feet in the dirt. Adriana immediately finds a stick and I thought "Ok b4 she puts this in her mouth show her how to use it for fun" and I took her hand, holding the stick, and started marking up the dirt and moving the rocks.  She thought it was cool.  For the next, oh, 45min. she moved herself to sit IN the dirt and played all around. We were laughing at how much fun she was having.  She was just talking to herself and squeeling and using that stick to make lines in the dirt.  She would use her other hand to pick up rocks and "chunk" them. After all that fun, she decided she wanted to take a walk on the rocky driveway- BAREFOOT. She did not complain at all, Just one step after the other all the way to the front door. She really is a tough cookie.
Another funny first-- yesterday I was craving yogurt and the store was having a sale on Whipped Yogurt. I bought 2 key lime pie flavors b/c i knew i liked that flavor in reg. yogurt.  Well, when we got home it was time to feed Adriana dinner.  It was a good time for me to have my yogurt. Addie was done eating dinner when she started asking to have some of my yogurt. I've been trying to get her to eat yogurt and she just never really gets into it.  So, happily i give her some.. not expecting a response.  She takes one taste of the key lime pie and her little eyebrows go up and she smacks her lips.  She points at the container. Folks, I think we have a winner! I was shocked. I thought - let's see how long this lasts.  Well, I had to hurry and eat bite for bite w/ her just to get some of my yogurt!! I am glad I bought two. I guess I just wasn't buying the right kind or flavor. ha.ha. Ok. gotta run time for her nap! Love to all.

Just for Fun

I figure it's time for another update, yes or yes? YES! The computer is running a bit slow right now so help me out.. I tried to set up the blogspot page to send an email when I update it. Someone let me know if you got an email, ok?
Wanna know what the doodle is up to these days? Well, she is working on her 6th tooth! It's crazy how fast they are coming in. Poor girl doesn't really get a break. She is pretty much only eating table food. She knows that she can and so she prefers to have what we are having and that seems to work out for all of us. She gets veggies and meat mainly. Today we made our own pizza and let her have some crust. I am still trying to avoid tomatoes and tomato sauce etc. Little too much acid still. She loves cheese- a girl after her Aunt Erica's heart- ha.ha. Let me think what else -- well, mac n' cheese- does that count as something else? She wants to eat everything, but what she does is stick it in and if she doesn't like it or thinks its too hard to chew she just spits it out. That's why we have bibs! Thank God for great inventions like that. She likes bananas and just tried some skinless grapes (what a pain) today. She isn't really too big into fruit at the moment. She loves her veggies though. Squash, carrots, cucumber.. yeah! She eats ground turkey meat, chicken & tuna. Something that I love about her age right now is - she helped me make cupcakes and then put them on the table and after dinner Rick and i had one, and she didn't even ask to try it. SHE HAS NO CLUE. Of course, after her bday, Nov. 1, that is all over!
Speaking of her birthday.. I am getting way excited. I might have mentioned before that she is having 3 parties.. one for the Hansen's, one for the Olivares' and one for the church family. I already started calling mom with talking over plans and ideas etc. I am trying to decide on a meal that will fill up the adults, but that Adriana will enjoy. Looks like mac n cheese may be on the menu! ha.ha.
Ok, g'night everyone. love to all!

10 months old

Sorry for the long silence on her blog spot peeps. I don't have the luxury of putting addie down somewhere and getting things done. She is such a fast crawler we call her "motor scooter". She is also very close to walking. She loves to hold your pointer finger and 'walk' around the house. We bought her first pair of sneakers 2 weeks ago.. they are pink Garanimal velcro sneakers & SHE LOVES THEM. She use to HATE things on her feet.. socks, shoes, whatever.. but since i've put on her sneakers she leaves them on all day. We even have some white sandals and she wears those happily too.. b/c she can walk anywhere she wants to with shoes.
At her last Dr. appt. - around 9 1/2 mth- she weighed 16lbs 11 oz. and was 27 inches long. She is still only in the 10th percentile of other children her age, but she is healthy. Her blood count is completely normal (the whole iron thing is resolved).
She has her two bottom teeth and one top tooth is halfway out and the other top tooth is just starting to make its way out of her gum. Adriana gets runny nose, boogies, crankiness and clingy during bad teething days. We love Tylenol and ice in a mesh bag!! unfortunately, that is the case today.
Something she just taught herself yesterday is CLAPPING. too cute!! She was in her car seat doodling around when all of a sudden she started to clap. Then again, and again and again. Now, she's been doing it all day and just smiles-- she is so proud of herself. A new accomplishment.
I am trying to think what else we have been up to. We are getting ready to celebrate her 1st year of life-- and oh, what a life it has been. She is too funny and we have enjoyed her immensly. I have been having more moments of frustration with her, but God is teaching me how to patiently love her and discipline her at the same time. That is hard for me b/c I either want to be really mad or totally fine with whatever she is doing. Finding the balance of showing her another way and keeping in mind she is still learning and does not disobey out of defiance, but more out of curiosity at this stage is sometimes challenging. Although, she doesn't need to learn manipulation tactics that's for sure. Example: Friday night we were invited to a dinner get together. Adriana wanted to eat table food- which was fine- she ate some plain spaghetti and bread. My friend Mari was holding her and feeding her a lot of bread b/c Adriana was asking for it- I told Addie (& mari) no more. I got out her jar of baby food and Mari got a spoonful for her and immediately she starts to fake cry... no tears, just whining and crying face. We all laughed. She continued to refuse her food w/ fake crying and asking for bread. At that point, she was told no more bread. She didn't necessarily need baby food since she already ate dinner, but if she wanted to eat anything else it needed to be baby food. Addie chose to get down. ha.ha. Anyone have a baby story like that?

On the Move...

Attention! Attention! We not only have a crawler in the house, but a lil lady who can now pull herself up to a stand.. all by herself! Holy Moly!! All of this is change is so fast and exciting. Adriana is changing every day. Unfortunately, she has learned a screeching scream that Rick and I are trying really hard to put a stop to.
Anyway, we had to lower her crib two spots just so she wouldn't be able to reach out. When she stands it now comes up to her chin. it is hilarious to watch her. She can even walk around her crib or pac n play-- and she just started the pull up thing last Sunday night. She is a quick learner I guess.. definitely self motivated. I am in now way in a rush to get her mobile. But I am enjoying each moment.
Rick and I have a Leadership Conference this Thurs. and Fri. from 9-5pm so Adriana will be staying with her Aunt Susie and Grandma Nana. This will be the first time that they have had her to themselves for this long of a stint. Let's pray it all goes well. (for them) I'm not worried about my girl. She's a trooper!!

8 mth photos (not same as facebook)

Changes

They say that your baby changes the most in the first year. I would say from 6 months til now we have seen so much change in our doodlebug. She is going to be 9 months on aug. 1 and she is getting the crawling thing down, sitting up by herself, eating by herself... We took her to Chili's the other night and she sat in a high chair... no more car seat-- bizarre! She is quite the talker..from morning to night it's nah-nah this and buh-buh that and who knows what else. She definitely knows her parents are suckers.. she can play us like a bell. (she was just whining and I didn't know why and she just farted! ha.ha. I started laughing and so did she. too funny!) She is also SO ANIMATED. She is starting to talk with her hands.. she can wave bye-bye and do your hands to say "where?" that's my favorite.
So, anyway, at the beginning of the month my friend, Morgan, came over and did a photo shoot of Adriana with me. I am going to post some pics. I have over 180 and I am going to have to choose carefully.
Much love to all Addie fans!

Teeth, Bugs & More...

I apologize for the bright color of last posts. Had complaints. I am making it up to you with this ugly organge. :)
Anyhoo- Adriana got her second tooth (right next to her first one) on June 25th. She now prefers big people food over the "baby" stuff. I am making squash, apples and anything else that we have and stick it in the food processor. As long as we leave it a little lumpy so she can grab it. She eats way more if she can do it ' by herself'. How can someone so little have so much personality??
About a week ago i was in the bedroom, sitting on the edge of the bed, feeding Addie when who decided to join us was a 5 inch long centipede!! (sp?) I lost all rational thinking and sat there trying to figure out what to do. The only thing close to me was a rubber Croc so i threw it down on top of him then i saw him run under the bed. i had no idea if i got him or not. i stood on top of the bed w/ a nursing baby checking all corners to see if he was coming to get me. My fear couldn't handle nemore & i made a dieing leap for the bedroom door w/ baby. i called rick & he said he had just pulled up to the house. Thank God for hero husbands!! He took control - found the mama & squashed her. We thought we were done w/ centipede's until i found a tiny, baby one in the bathroom today. i tried to kill that one, but it was in a crevic & my shoe was too big & it ran under the toilet. Anything thinking it is safer under our toilet should die anyway. ha.ha.
tonight my goal is to find out how many babies come from a centipede at one time.
So, onto more fun news Adriana is increasing her back & stomach strength. Her length of time sitting up by herself and holding herself up is much better. She likes to sit on the couch w/ our company.
Fun tidbit-- Rick and I think it is hilarious when everyone is laughing, Adriana will pipe in w/ a "courtesy" laugh. Or if you fake laugh at her she will fake laugh back. She justs wants to be part of the fun.
We have our immunization shots tomorrow - we are officially 8 months old. We might not feel so hot. We will hear a lot of "moooooooooooom" waa-waa. That is the main time that she calls my name. She is really not happy and really needs me. The rest of the day it is all smiles and "da,da,da,da,da,da". Who said life was fair, right? just kidding. I love it all. It amazes me she can differentiate b/wn us already. She also can say "nigh-nigh" for night night and "nana" for banana and "buh-buh" for bye bye. She mimicks a lot of our sounds for a lot of words, but those are the most consistent. too much fun. Next post will probably be after the Hansen BBQ on July 11. Love & Hugs!!

7 mth check up

Hello Addie Lovers!! We had a blast in Florida. We went to the beach for the first time. Adriana slept on the beach, sat on my lap on the sand :) and took a dip in the ocean. She isn't too sure about moving water, but she didn't complain- she just hung on real tight to mommy.
Mimi and Biggie bought her a floatie for the pool- and that was awesome. She looked like she was Queen holding court in the water. too funny. She had a hard time wanting to take any naps in FL (too much fun w/ Auntie E & Uncle Matt) so we would swim in the pool to wear her out. It worked! Thank God.
Anyway, June 15 we went to see the Pediatrician. She is 7mths new now and weighed in at 15.5lbs- Rick & I both commented on how she was feeling heavier. She is also 26.5 inches long. They say she is avg. length, but still petite. I am happy that is still the case. hee.hee. I like the word "petite" for my baby doodlebug.
Other big news is that we got our first tooth on June 8!! We went to see the dentist and that was hilarious. THEY BRUSHED HER TOOTH! She loved it. This child has yet to not like anything about this world- still young i know, but she handles everything like its fun. I love that about her. We are also sitting up ALL BY OURSELVES. It lasts for about a minute and then she topples over and that is the best part to me. We laugh every time. Addie laughs too.
Ok folks that's all for now. Much love and many kisses. Hope to see some of you at the Hansen BBQ.

Well, I didn't find the pictures of the Ferg and Cerith bib as i promised until after i downloaded the others oops. maybe next time.
I am now in Jupiter, FL -- Rick, Adriana and I survived an absolutely insane weekend. We arrived in ATL on a direct flight from SA around 4pm. My parents, who drove straight from their house in FL to the airport in ATL to pick us up, were right on time. impressive!
We stayed at our friends, Mike and Debbie Presley's house. We picked up wings and pizza, beer and soda and just chilled. We didn't want anymore than that. Debbie's daughter, Karen, also came over w/ her son, Ty. On Saturday we went to Pappadeaux for lunch to celebrate my other cousin, Charles or Chucky Ray Bob's, high school graduation. Great company and always fun to see the family. We had time for a quick nap and then headed to the church for Whitney's wedding. Adriana was dressed in her "wedding dress" too. Erica said she stole Addie and walked around the room to see how many compliments she would get. She said, "I didn't even get half a foot, it was awesome!" We all danced, but the superstar of the dance floor was my cousin, Ciera. Her and Uncle Bill tore it up!! This girl has got some moves. We got pictures and video to prove it. I am making a shout out to Ciera.. YOU GO GIRL!! And Adriana absolutely loved her. I think they are forever friends. :) Anyway, after all that we woke up way early this morning- dropped Rick off at the airport and 11.5 hrs. later made it home. Yeah, it took a lil bit longer w/ so many needy people, but Adriana did great. Only 10 min. of crying in that whole trip. AMAZING!!

Every baby needs a "bootie shot" and isn't hers cute??

The Red/White hat I got from Karma and friends at a baby shower. I remember wondering what she'd look like in it and there it is. Her feet take up a lot of the pic. She loves her feet!

I love the picture of Scott and Addie and Roxy. Sue and JB taught us a new phrase for Roxy.. it is Scott's doghter and Adriana's cousin. ha.ha.
The pic. with Mimi and Addie was taken at Camp Verde. Mimi sang her to sleep. awwwww

Wow! We have been having a lot of fun this month and yet I can't remember what we've been doing. ha.ha. Tomorrow, the Olivares family is going on our first airplane ride all together. Adriana and I flew to VA in Jan. to see Mimi and Mona, but this time Rick is coming too. I am sooo happy to not be traveling on my own. Although, addie was an angel the last trip. Anyway, we are headed to Atlanta to see my cousin, Whitney Hansen, get married. yippee! Adriana is finally going to meet the Alan and Bill Hansen family and meet Aunt Brenda and of course see Mummsy again. double yippee! Erica, Matt, Mimi and Biggie will be there as well. After the weekend in Atlanta Rick will fly back to TX and go back to work, but Adriana and I are driving back to FL with the Biggie Hansen's. Her first real road trip-- definitely a Biggie thing! We will stay with them for a week and fly home on Sat. June 6th. We are very excited for some firsts like: the beach & the pool & whatever else Mimi & Auntie Erica come up with! ha.ha.
Adriana is getting extremely close to pushing out her first tooth. It may even happen while we are in FL, seriously! She is also looking more and more like a big girl.. tear. She can almost sit up all by herself and is really wanting to crawl. GOD HELP ME when that happens. She is so busy now, I can't imagine keeping up with her then.
Side note: our friends from Wales Fergs and Cerith send Adriana an awesome bib and we got some great photos - I don't think I've posted them here, so I am going to try and do that. And whatever other cute photos I find from May.
Love to all-- June here we come.

6 month check up

Adriana went to the Dr. today. She weighs 14 lbs. and is 26 inches long. They said she is tall and skinny. I was excited.. it isn't often this Hansen family hears those words.. ha.ha. It must be the Olivares genes kicking in. They pricked her finger to check her iron and said she was a lil deficient. They recommended some medicine to help that, but I am going to try and eat more iron for her, first. Overall, she is doing great.
She has turned a new corner with her personality. She is starting to warm up to people very quickly i.e. flashing her heart warming smile, and enticing people to play with her. Our new nickname for her is Rollie Pollie Ollie = guess why? Because we can't leave her anywhere for 2 seconds without a rolling interest in what is around her. She has some perseverance in her. I love to see that!

Olivares Mother's Day Photos

Scott was a groomsmen in the wedding. He is pictured with his girlfriend, Kristie. The rest are all wedding photos.

Mother's Day

Sue, Mom, Tracy, me and Addie

The first week of May turned out to be the same pace as April.. busy. We had JB & Sue, from Mass., come for a visit. Sue and Adriana hit it off right away. She was all smiles, all day. She showed Sue how she can roll all over the bed-- and almost roll off if you don't watch it. Sue took Adriana on her first picnic and her first dip in the Medina river. We were a busy bunch. Mimi was in tow as well, of course.

This weekend our friends Dustin and Megan got married so Biggie came back into town for that, and Mother's Day, of course. I had a great 1st Mother's Day. I think I have the friendliest 6mth old around. She loves to smile at people and be held. She also LOVES her feet. Anyway, I got 1/2 a dz roses and 2 cards.. one from Addie and one from Rick. We met Mimi and Biggie and Uncle Scott at the Pipe Creek Steakhouse, that is actually pretty good, for lunch. Then Rick and I went to Nana and Popo's for dinner. Very nice day.

Adriana was dressed in one of the cutest outfits to date.. which is hard to say about my fashionista!

April Recap

oh yeah, addie got this awesome jumper for Easter from mimi and biggie

I can't believe April is already over!! I am so behind. We have been so busy. Well, I turned 30 on April 12th and Rick had a bday on April 27th. We had one big bday bash on April 18th. That was fun. Our friends, Jessica and Johnny, got married on the 17th. Mimi and Biggie came to visit (and are still visiting). Mimi had her first baby sitting experience b/c I had a weekend conference at the Alto Frio Encampment. Mimi came to stay with us and while I was in class, Addie entertained her gma. We also got to visit Dan and Feve Morgan. Feve made some awesome food for us, on a side note! Rick and I went on our 2nd date in 6mths. on his birthday! woo-hoo!! Ok, that is most of it. Adriana stuck it out like a trooper. I tried to put her in the Frio River, but she told me in not so many words it was too frio mama! Love to all- Janna
