Hilarious Firsts!

So, we've been having bouts of nice weather here in Pipe Creek and the other evening around 5pm it was really cool out.  So, we decided to go enjoy the outside.  Rick had to work on the car anyway, and Adriana and I kept him company.  We walked down the breezeway and sat on the curb with our feet in the dirt. Adriana immediately finds a stick and I thought "Ok b4 she puts this in her mouth show her how to use it for fun" and I took her hand, holding the stick, and started marking up the dirt and moving the rocks.  She thought it was cool.  For the next, oh, 45min. she moved herself to sit IN the dirt and played all around. We were laughing at how much fun she was having.  She was just talking to herself and squeeling and using that stick to make lines in the dirt.  She would use her other hand to pick up rocks and "chunk" them. After all that fun, she decided she wanted to take a walk on the rocky driveway- BAREFOOT. She did not complain at all, Just one step after the other all the way to the front door. She really is a tough cookie.
Another funny first-- yesterday I was craving yogurt and the store was having a sale on Whipped Yogurt. I bought 2 key lime pie flavors b/c i knew i liked that flavor in reg. yogurt.  Well, when we got home it was time to feed Adriana dinner.  It was a good time for me to have my yogurt. Addie was done eating dinner when she started asking to have some of my yogurt. I've been trying to get her to eat yogurt and she just never really gets into it.  So, happily i give her some.. not expecting a response.  She takes one taste of the key lime pie and her little eyebrows go up and she smacks her lips.  She points at the container. Folks, I think we have a winner! I was shocked. I thought - let's see how long this lasts.  Well, I had to hurry and eat bite for bite w/ her just to get some of my yogurt!! I am glad I bought two. I guess I just wasn't buying the right kind or flavor. ha.ha. Ok. gotta run time for her nap! Love to all.

Just for Fun

I figure it's time for another update, yes or yes? YES! The computer is running a bit slow right now so help me out.. I tried to set up the blogspot page to send an email when I update it. Someone let me know if you got an email, ok?
Wanna know what the doodle is up to these days? Well, she is working on her 6th tooth! It's crazy how fast they are coming in. Poor girl doesn't really get a break. She is pretty much only eating table food. She knows that she can and so she prefers to have what we are having and that seems to work out for all of us. She gets veggies and meat mainly. Today we made our own pizza and let her have some crust. I am still trying to avoid tomatoes and tomato sauce etc. Little too much acid still. She loves cheese- a girl after her Aunt Erica's heart- ha.ha. Let me think what else -- well, mac n' cheese- does that count as something else? She wants to eat everything, but what she does is stick it in and if she doesn't like it or thinks its too hard to chew she just spits it out. That's why we have bibs! Thank God for great inventions like that. She likes bananas and just tried some skinless grapes (what a pain) today. She isn't really too big into fruit at the moment. She loves her veggies though. Squash, carrots, cucumber.. yeah! She eats ground turkey meat, chicken & tuna. Something that I love about her age right now is - she helped me make cupcakes and then put them on the table and after dinner Rick and i had one, and she didn't even ask to try it. SHE HAS NO CLUE. Of course, after her bday, Nov. 1, that is all over!
Speaking of her birthday.. I am getting way excited. I might have mentioned before that she is having 3 parties.. one for the Hansen's, one for the Olivares' and one for the church family. I already started calling mom with talking over plans and ideas etc. I am trying to decide on a meal that will fill up the adults, but that Adriana will enjoy. Looks like mac n cheese may be on the menu! ha.ha.
Ok, g'night everyone. love to all!

10 months old

Sorry for the long silence on her blog spot peeps. I don't have the luxury of putting addie down somewhere and getting things done. She is such a fast crawler we call her "motor scooter". She is also very close to walking. She loves to hold your pointer finger and 'walk' around the house. We bought her first pair of sneakers 2 weeks ago.. they are pink Garanimal velcro sneakers & SHE LOVES THEM. She use to HATE things on her feet.. socks, shoes, whatever.. but since i've put on her sneakers she leaves them on all day. We even have some white sandals and she wears those happily too.. b/c she can walk anywhere she wants to with shoes.
At her last Dr. appt. - around 9 1/2 mth- she weighed 16lbs 11 oz. and was 27 inches long. She is still only in the 10th percentile of other children her age, but she is healthy. Her blood count is completely normal (the whole iron thing is resolved).
She has her two bottom teeth and one top tooth is halfway out and the other top tooth is just starting to make its way out of her gum. Adriana gets runny nose, boogies, crankiness and clingy during bad teething days. We love Tylenol and ice in a mesh bag!! unfortunately, that is the case today.
Something she just taught herself yesterday is CLAPPING. too cute!! She was in her car seat doodling around when all of a sudden she started to clap. Then again, and again and again. Now, she's been doing it all day and just smiles-- she is so proud of herself. A new accomplishment.
I am trying to think what else we have been up to. We are getting ready to celebrate her 1st year of life-- and oh, what a life it has been. She is too funny and we have enjoyed her immensly. I have been having more moments of frustration with her, but God is teaching me how to patiently love her and discipline her at the same time. That is hard for me b/c I either want to be really mad or totally fine with whatever she is doing. Finding the balance of showing her another way and keeping in mind she is still learning and does not disobey out of defiance, but more out of curiosity at this stage is sometimes challenging. Although, she doesn't need to learn manipulation tactics that's for sure. Example: Friday night we were invited to a dinner get together. Adriana wanted to eat table food- which was fine- she ate some plain spaghetti and bread. My friend Mari was holding her and feeding her a lot of bread b/c Adriana was asking for it- I told Addie (& mari) no more. I got out her jar of baby food and Mari got a spoonful for her and immediately she starts to fake cry... no tears, just whining and crying face. We all laughed. She continued to refuse her food w/ fake crying and asking for bread. At that point, she was told no more bread. She didn't necessarily need baby food since she already ate dinner, but if she wanted to eat anything else it needed to be baby food. Addie chose to get down. ha.ha. Anyone have a baby story like that?
